Berties Girl ran a huge race on her debut against geldings’ in the four-year-old maiden at Moira, when filling the runner-up berth. The debutant was only beaten by two and a half lengths on that occasion and certainly lost little in defeat. Mic Goff’s charge raced in mid division for much of the contest, travelling and jumping well. The daughter of Mustameet made eye catching progress to challenge at the penultimate obstacle where she jumped up to dispute before nodding on landing. To her credit the bay battled on gamely in the closing stages, only giving way on the run to the line and certainly shaped with plenty of promise. This was a huge performance like this four-year-old mare could well progress into being above average on the track proper.
