Touchy Subject produced a very likeable performance on debut, to finish second in a decent looking four-year-old maiden at Tralee in late May. Trained by the formidable Denis Murphy and ridden by Derek O’Connor, the Tikkanen gelding was one of five newcomers in the 13 runner field. Coming from off the pace, Touchy Subject held every chance with two to jump. Beaten on the day by a more experienced rival who had run well in a high class Bartley contest rival giving him the recent race fitness edge, he impressed with how he finished out his race and was a real eye-catcher on the day. The race produced a fast time, six seconds above the average recorded on the day at Tralee and there is little doubt that he will not be winning in the near future.
