Show In The Sky certainly had a notable pedigree to justify when he made his debut at Tinahely, as he is the son of none other than star race mare Voler La Vedette. She won the Grade 1 Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse and got within two lengths of the great Big Buck’s in the World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, to leave expectations high for him. He duly delivered upon that with a winning debut that clocked a particularly quick time, some 25 seconds faster than the average on the card, and a total of 13 seconds quicker than the other division of the four-year-old maiden. The strong tempo that this race was run at proved to be no great test for him as he picked off the leaders early in the straight, and simply powered up the stiff hill to return 11 lengths clear of his rivals by the line. That ticked a lot of boxes.
