It has been an exceptional few weeks for Doyen with Battleoverdoyen crowning a flurry of recent winners last Saturday at Down Royal in good style. About an hour or so earlier this debutante daughter of Doyen was making an impressive winning start to her career when seeing off her nine rivals in testing conditions in game fashion. The third placed horse had been a ten-length fourth on debut at Dromahane giving this race depth and this winner drew away in the closing stages to win by a length and a half. She is from the family of the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Kicking King and looks a smart mare in her own right.
