Castle Robin gained a deserved success at Dromahane last Sunday, as he was very unlucky at Rathcannon in April. On that occasion, he had the lead coming to the final fence, only to stumble badly and part company with his rider, in very unlucky fashion. The eventual winner of that race has since offered promise on his debut in a big field maiden hurdle at Chepstow recently, and so it was no surprise that Castle Robin attained due compensation on his very next start. The Robin Des Champs gelding, who is very well bred being a half-brother of Grade 2 Fortria Chase winner Arctic Skipper, out of a five-time track winner that is a half-sister to multiple Graded winner Mulligan, he made much of running in the second half of the race. Despite being joined at the penultimate fence, he dug deep and crucially put in the better jump over the last to win his four-year-old maiden in good style.
