The debutant Picanha came out on top in what was a very close finish in the second division of the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Moig South. This was a very taking performance as the front two had pulled a distance clear of the remainder, having gone a strong gallop from the drop of the flag. Posting the quickest time of the day, the winner showed a very game attitude and battled hard to see-off an above average sort. Trained by Andrew Latta, the son of Malinas is a €24,000 Derby Sale graduate and looks to have a big future ahead of him.
