Expectations were high for the French-bred Lou Trek ahead of his point-to-point debut as he made his first competitive appearance at Moig South earlier this month, having been sent off as a well-supported favourite. That market confidence was certainly justified as he produced an impressive display to make all from the front. Setting a good gallop, the son of Linda’s Lad was electric over his fences, particularly as the pace began to increase on the final lap, and he ultimately was a class above his rivals, with his speed proving to be the decisive factor. Clocking a time seven seconds faster than the day’s average, he returned on the bridle without having to be asked a serious question, which is all the more impressive considering that the second, third and fourth horses all brought form into the race.
