Tango Charlie was unlucky on his first racecourse appearance when slipping up in the 2m point-to-point bumper at Great Trethew on 24th February. On his second start he ran a race full of promise when runner-up in Div II of the 2m point-to-point bumper at Milborne St Andrew on 23rd March. He showed the benefit of that experience when bolting up by 12 lengths in the 4,5 & 6yo Open Maiden at Flete Park on the 4th May. He took up the running approaching 3 out and quickened clear between the last two fences to win as he liked at the line eased down under Will Biddick for trainer Robert Chanin. By Califet a sire grabbing all the headlines at the moment he rates a most exciting young prospect going forward.
