Calle Malva is a progressive sort who has shown plenty of promise on her three starts to date this Spring. The daughter of Getaway finished fourth on her debut at Ballycahane before improving to finish a much closer fourth in another competitive maiden at Monksgrange. The good-looking bay went on to record a fine second at Fairyhouse in another four-year-old mares’ maiden at the end of April for handler Alan Donoghue. This likable sort was given a positive ride by Paul Bannon, overcoming a little trouble in running three-out, before coming home well in the closing stages getting to within two lengths of the winner. Out of a half-sister to four-time winners Buckby Lane and Guilsborough Gorse, this mare could well develop into a smart performer under rules.
