At First Glance made a taking debut when finishing fourth in the four-year-old mares’ maiden at Dromahane in late April under James Hannon. The daughter of Stowaway led for much of the contest and while headed three from home the debutant stuck gamely to her task in the closing stages, keeping on well to finish a close fourth. Beaten just six lengths in a competitive contest, this was an exciting debut from the bay who is sure to improve from the experience. It is also worth noting that the second placed mare, subsequently sold for €220,000. From a family of winners this likable sort may well develop into an interesting type between the rails for new connections in the future.
