Grand Knight made the perfect start to his career when taking the concluding 4 & 5yo Flat Race at Larkhill on 18th January. The four-year-old son of Slickly who cost €90,000 as a store at last year’s Derby Sale travelled nicely throughout the contest under Peter Bryan and took up the running three furlongs from home, before quickening up well to win going away at the line by 6 1/2 lengths. Out of the smart black type performer La Grande Dame, this was a most taking performance from a classy youngster who looks to have a very bright future indeed.
