Red Buccaneer an imposing son of the late Black Sam Bellamy caught the eye when placed 2nd beaten only 1 1/2 lengths on his debut in the Open Maiden point-to-point at Larkhill on 5th January. Always in contention he jumped very well throughout under James King and stayed on all the way to the line only giving best to a more experienced rival. From the tough winning family of Bayrouge and Ravaro he possesses all the hallmarks of a future top class chaser. The form has also been franked as the winner has subsequently won again at Larkhill on 18th January.
