The Donnachadh Doyle-trained Farouk D’Alene made a very impressive debut here when running out an emphatic winner of the four-year-old maiden at Belclare. The French-bred jumped well at the head of affairs under Jimmy O’Rourke, before beginning to pull clear from three-out. The debutant showed a very smart turn of foot in the closing stages to quicken away from his rivals with ease. This exciting type ultimately came home 18 lengths clear of the field to record very easy victory. A son of Racinger, this good-looking sort could well develop into a very high quality prospect under rules.
