God Knows Why ran a very promising race when coming second in the five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Kirkistown in February. The son of Oscar stepped-up notably from his fifth-placed effort to Clondaw Bertie on his debut at Dromahane back in December. The five-year-old was ridden prominently throughout a strongly run contest and when long-time leader Will Carver picked up the pace turning into the home bend, he went with him but ultimately was no match for the winner. Stamina may well be his forte as he kept on very resolutely late in the day when galloping all the way to line to finish up just six lengths behind Will Carver. Going forward this nicely bred gelding, who is a half brother to Forge Meadow, is open to plenty of improvement and will be able to put this experience to good use for new connections.
