Unit Sixtyfour finished second on what was his second start between the flags at Knockmullen House at the beginning of February in the five-year-old geldings’ maiden. The son of Sholokhov, who pulled up at Borris House on his debut atoned for this performance here when returning just two lengths behind the winner. The bay gelding was ridden in mid-division for much of the contest, whilst ensuring that he did not let the runaway leader get too far out of sight and was produced on the turn for home. The five-year-old stuck to his task well and stayed on from the back of the last when the eventual third came up to him which bodes well for the future. In a ten-runner contest, which was run at a ferocious pace given the underfoot conditions this was a likable performance from a gelding, who is sure to make his impact felt when run under rules.
