Velvet Elvis made quite a taking winning debut when landing his four-year-old maiden at Nenagh. The son of Shirocco was never far from the pace under Peter Kavanagh and quickened very well to put clear daylight between himself and his rivals well before the final fence. A sound-jumping sort, he kept on noticeably well late in the day suggesting there was plenty left in the tank. The four-year-old is a half-brother to seven-time track scorer Black Benny. He looks likely to win plenty of races inside the rails going forward where dropping back to two miles should also not be a problem for him on the basis of his effort here.
