Guardino posted a very credible debut performance when only beaten three-and-a-half lengths in a competitive four-year-old maiden at Oldtown. This son of Authorized, who was the standout paddock pick before the race, looks to have come up against a very smart looking individual in testing conditions and he put his best foot forward when travelling beautifully into the race. He showed a very likeable attitude as he dug deep in the closing stages of the contest where he stayed on gamely all the way to the line. This four-year-old was a €74,000 store purchase, who lost little in defeat in this contest and is clearly a talented type. Given the attributes he showed on his initial start he looks like a gelding that could develop into a smart track performer and will have an exciting future inside the rails.
