Oscar Thyne had made a number of early errors when making his debut at Oldcastle last spring, but his jumping proved to be much more of an asset when re-appearing at Borris House last Sunday, when he took a big step forward to finish second. Always in the first half dozen, he showed a good turn of foot from the back of the third last, where he quickened clear alongside Weather Check, in a move which initially caught the eventual winner tapped for speed. Briefly getting to the front at the second last, it was only when the winner’s superior staying prowess began to take effect, that he had to surrender that advantage, but still returned a creditable second.
