Ballybegg has been an improving performer and posted his best performance to date when finishing a fine second in what looked a competitive contest with a number of highly thought of sorts and form horses. The son of Mahler, who was appearing for the seventh time was ridden by Stephen Connor and was prominent throughout the race and led after jumping the third-last however the Jamie Sloan-trained Gallyhill rallied well in the close stages and ultimately went on to win by two and a half lengths. Out of a half-sister to eleven-time winner Final Flyer, he appears to be a decent looking prospect that posted a strong run, where he lost little in defeat. The bay gelding seems to be a very likeable youngster with a lot to offer new connections.
