Happygolucky came up against a very well-thought of and well-related son of Milan that had cost €52,000 as a foal in Saint Benedict, but he more than covered himself in promise, going with the short-priced favourite when he began to make his move in the home straight. This son of Jeremy, who had jumped well throughout, kept tabs on the winner all the way up the climb to the line, keeping him honest all the while. Finishing a four-length second, he held off the well-bred third, a half-brother to Whisperinthebreeze, with a significant 14-length break back to the remainder, which has to bode very well for the future.
