Idas Boy got off the mark at the second time of asking when taking the five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Dromahane in testing conditions. The imposing son of Dubai Destination certainly caught the eye in the paddock beforehand and was not winning out of turn here having run well for a long way on his debut at Knockanard. James Hannon elected to keep things simple aboard the five-year-old here, bouncing out and making every post a winning one. The five-year-old readily quickened clear of the field on the bridle turning-in, before easing to an unextended eight-length success. This exciting sort certainly looks like a fine staying chaser in the making.
