The Pat Turley-trained Belfast Banter made a taking debut in the competitive four-year-old maiden at Oldcastle under Mark O'Hare when filling the runner-up berth. The son of Jeremy was always up with the pace set by the eventual winner Ballinsker and travelled notably well throughout. The gelding still held every chance jumping the second last and while he could not quite match the winner, the debutant stayed on well up to the line, losing little in defeat. The €28,000 store is out of a half-sister to Dun Doire, a nine-time winner under rules. This bay gelding could potentially be an interesting sort going forward, as there may be plenty more to come from him in the future.
