Vinnie Dev showed a very likable attitude when battling hard to take the five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Monkgrange for Ashleigh Murphy. The likable son of Vinnie Roe, had shaped with plenty of promise on a number of his previous starts, running well in four-year-old company back in the Autumn. The five-year-old was always prominent, although the race leader set a strong gallop and raced well clear of the field for much on the contest. The eventual winner had to set out and bridge the gap from three-out and was the only one capable of reeling in the pace-setter, staying on gamely to get up in the closing stages. This honest sort should win plenty of races over staying trips in the future.
