Twice runner-up, Goodoldtimes was beaten a head on his debut at Oldtown and just a length on his second career start at Lingstown. The son of Gold Well got off the mark on the third time of asking at Rathcannon in the five-year-old geldings’ maiden in the hands of Luke Murphy. The Denis Murphy-trained gelding was up near the pace throughout and was closing on Shannon Tide down to the last when that rival fell. It is worth noting that it looked as though the €32,000 store would not have gone down without a fight here. A capable sort, who has shown consistency on each of his starts, this could be a nice sort under rules going forward for new connections.
