The Peter Flood-trained Supreme Escape got off the mark at the second time of asking in the five-and-six-year-old geldings’ maiden at Oldcastle under Anthony Fox. The son of Milan had previously finished a promising fourth on his debut in the four-year-old maiden at Kirkistown back in November. The €62,000 store made much of the running throughout and was sent for home from the second last. A somewhat hesitant jump at the final fence did not help this winner’s cause but the bay picked up once again on the run to line, securing a three-length victory. This improving type could well develop into a smart performer between in the rails in the future.
