Firak got off the mark at the second time of asking when taking the four-year-old maiden at Rathcannon for Donnchadh Doyle. A fine second on his debut at Ballyarthur, the French-bred built on that effort to get off the mark here. Always to the fore of proceedings, the Jimmy O’Rourke-trained gelding jumped and travelled well throughout and was staying on readily on the run to the final fence when left clear. To his credit the son of Fuisse stuck to his task from this point ultimately winning by length. There should be plenty more to come from this half-bother to the prolific Virak.
