The Denis Murphy-trained Baptism Of Fire made an eye catching debut to win the four-year-old maiden at Courtown in the hands of Jamie Codd. The €48,000 store travelled well throughout this contest that was notably faster than the second division on testing ground conditions. While the leaders pulled away from the gelding three-out, the son of Jeremy soon got into top gear coming home well to get up in the shadow of the post. It seems that this good-looking bay could show plenty of improvement for this effort and may well develop into an exciting sort under rules in the future.
