Tokyo Getaway got off the mark at the third time of asking in the five-and-six-year-old mares’ maiden at Oldcastle in the hands of Anthony Fox. The Peter Flood-trained five-year-old was certainly not winning out of turn here having finished a cracking second in a four-year-old mares’ maiden place at Tattersalls back in the autumn. This improving sort was always close to the pace, before making her move four from home, joining the long-time leader of the eight runner field. Owned by Teresa Flood, the mare looked the likely winner from two-out and kept on well to win by a comfortable three lengths at the line. This likable sort should surely progress into a smart mare under rules in the future.
