The Mulcair found success at the third time of asking when winning the five-year-old geldings' maiden by five-and-a-half lengths at Moira in the hands of Luke Murphy. The son of Flemensfirth finished third and fifth in four-year-old company before making his seasonal debut this here. A €55,000 store, the gelding made his challenge two from home, quickening clear before the last to win in comfortable fashion. Handled by Denis Murphy, the five-year-old is out of a half-sister to the Gold Cup winner Imperial Commander. Owned by Pat Coffey, this fine bay could develop into a decent prospect on the track for new connections.
