Holy Motivation took the five-year-old-and-upwards mares’ maiden at Tinahely in February on what was her second start between the flags. The daughter of Kalanisi had one previous run where she finished fourth at Dungarvan in January behind Portnablagh who has since won a bumper. Stepping up notably from that effort, Holy Motivation was ridden behind the leader for much of the race before making up good ground over the final half mile where she progressed to lead from the penultimate fence and soon quickened clear on the run to the final obstacle to go on and win by a comfortable 12 lengths. The Donnchadh Doyle-trained mare is out of a half-sister to the Grade three chase winner Inistioge as well as being from the family of black type winners which includes China Rock, Fatherofthebride and Buywise. Holy Motivation looks to be the type of mare that would have little difficulty in making her mark on the track and further add to this winning family.
