Norwegian Woods made his debut a winning one when he took his five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Loughanmore in March. Racing in mid-division for much of the race, the Jamie Codd-ridden gelding took closer order on the final half a mile where he showed an impressive turn of foot to take up the lead before the final obstacle. Staying on gamely from the final fence, the son of Arcadio quickly had the upper hand on his rivals and went onto win by five lengths for the Denis Murphy yard in what was the second fastest time of the day. One of four newcomers in the race, Norwegian Woods is a half-brother to the talented seven-time winner and Grade three placed, Aughnacurraveel. This eye-catching gelding is bred to develop into a smart track sort and could have a lot to offer to new connections.
