With the benefit of a couple of runs, Lord Getaway got his head in front when winning a five-year-old geldings' maiden at Courtown in early April. Trained by Colin Bowe, the Getaway gelding raced prominently under Barry O'Neill. On terms with the leaders with three fences to jump, he was ridden to maintain his position and stayed on best in the closing stages to gain a deserved success. Lord Getaway looked like he was set to record another good success next time out, this time in winners company but for falling at the final fence and has since been placed on his last two starts. From the family of multiple French winners, he looks a progressive type that should continue to impress for new connections.
