Gold Runner was a recent runner-up at Lingstown earlier in the month ahead of some previously placed rivals. The daughter of Gold Well was ridden towards the rear of the field until the final mile where she began to make steady progress and soon found herself in the runner-up spot where she showed a game battling attitude to hold off the fast finishing Newlands Cross by a half-length. Gold Runner has had eight point-to-point starts to date and has gathered some good experience over the season. Third at Castletown-Geoghegan on her seasonal reappearance in October, Gold Runner was unlucky on her next start at Lisronagh where she came to grief at the penultimate fence when disputing the lead. The six-year-old is from the family of the dual Grade one winner, Feathered Leader as well as the 11-time winner Ten Plus and will surely not be waiting long to enter the winners enclosure.
