Sheila Tanist made a promising debut at Ballingarry in June when running well on debut only to come to grief at the third last fence. The daughter of Court Cave was out of luck again on her seasonal reappearance at Borris House earlier in the month when unseating her rider at the second fence but showed her toughness in turning out just two days later at Ballyarthur and took the five-year-old-and-upwards mares’ maiden on the day. Ridden patiently throughout, Sheila Tanist quickly made up good ground between the final few fences and progressed to lead after the penultimate fence where she was forced to dip deep in the closing stages by the fast finishing runner-up Devito’sredrobin to hold onto the victory. Sheila Tanist is out of a half-sister to the listed winner Guts For Garthers as well as being from the family of the Grade one winner Benefficient. Sheila Tanist is bred to develop into a smart sort on the track and could prove a profitable purchase for her new connections.
