Aclassagold took the five-and-six-year-old geldings’ maiden at Tyrella in March on what could almost have been considered his debut. The son of Gold Well had one previous run at Mainstown in December where was brought down at the first fence. Aclassagold raced in mid-division for much of the race before making good progress to dispute the lead from the penultimate fence where he showed a good turn of foot over his rivals and held a strong advantage at the final fence before staying on strongly on the run-in to win by a comfortable six lengths. On this evidence Aclassagold looks to be the type of horse that would have little difficulty in making his mark on the track over shorter distance for his new connections. His speed in the closing stages was quite remarkable.
