Lot 65: is the first today to €100,000, the well-regarded US Navy Flag filly is bought by Jamie Lloyd for the Meah Lloyd Bloodstock for the Sarkar family.
She was sold by Tradewinds Bloodstock, a family operation run by the brothers Shane and Alex Power, and she gave the team a great pinhooking return – the filly was bought as a yearling for just 11,000gns at the October Book 3 Sale, purchased under the banner of Interactive Bloodstock.
It is Shane's 29th birthday today, what a great birthday present!
"She looks a steal now, but I don't think you can ever get them cheap enough," said the younger Alex Power. "We were very keen on getting one by the stallion, we had seen her before and she was just at the right level. We mainly buy foals to sell as yearlings, but we had sold everything that year and had the El Kabeir [Lot 84] and we wanted to get another filly to go with her. She has a super temperament, you couldn't ask for much more."
The pair concentrate mainly on buying fillies, Alex explained: "It is a family thing, and we mainly buy fillies so, if either of us are away, then they are ok for Mum to handle."
It is the biggest breeze up sale for brothers, who sold an Iffraaj yearling to Shadwell for 190,000gns at the October Book 2 Sale in 2019.
"We've had a bit of luck at Tattersalls!" smiled Power.
"She goes to the barn of Henry Spiller for owner Jonathan Sarkar and his family, we wanted to try and buy some nice fillies and she was pick of the pile," outlined buyer Jamie Lloyd. "We knew a little bit about her going into the sale, that played a key part, her breeze was excellent, she is a scopey filly and she has a real active walk to her. She is might be a breeding prospect further down the line, we will see how it goes."
Spiller added: "It is very exciting, she is for some great clients and Jamie did a great job finding her. We didn't want to go home without her and we are thrilled to get her. She needs a little bit of time, she won't be one that we will be pushing straight away."
She is out of the Danehill Dancer mare Sapore di Roma, who has had one winner from two runners and is a daughter of the Listed-placed Olivia (Giant's Causeway). The family stretches to the Group 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Ronda, and the Group 3 winner Purr Along.
The Sarkar family owns Mashaaer (Muhaarar) who finished second in the Pretty Polly Stakes (L) earlier this month for Spiller. She was bought at the Tattersalls February Sale for 105,000gns by Lloyd from the concluding Shadwell draft. She is entered in the 1m2f maiden at Bath tomorrow. (13:35)
Lot 82: becomes a joint top price, the colt by Mastery, sold by Lynn Lodge Stud, makes €100,000. He was bought by Ross Doyle, who was taking instructions on the phone, but who did not get involved in the bidding until very late in proceedings. The colt had looked as though he would have been heading Stephen Hillen's direction until Doyle landed the six-figure bid.
"He is a very athletic colt, a nice physical, he has a good pedigree, he comes from a good home, he apparently clocked a good time, he is a good physical," said Doyle. "He is for an existing client and there are no set plans as yet."
The colt is the first foal out of Spinworthy (Gio Ponti), a daughter of Spinnette (Spinning World), dam of the Listed winner Green Lyons and the Grade 3 placed Tarrip.
Under the third dam is Net Worth is the Grade 2 winner and Grade 1 E P Taylor Stakes third Naissance Royale. (14:14)
Lot 95: the son of this year's first-season stallion James Garfield, who has had three winners so far, is bought by Peter and Ross Doyle for €60,000.
The April-born colt is out of Swift Acclaim (Acclamation) and was sold by Kilbrew Stables, who pinhooked him for €21,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland November Flat Sale.
The mare is a half-sister to Presto Shinko, a Group 3-winning sprinter, and from the family of numerous stakes performers, including the Group 1 placed Carlton House and the Group 2 Sun Chariot winner Talented. (15:07)
Lot 121: the son of Oasis Dream becomes the third lot today to fetch €100,000, the Grove Stud-offered colt is bought by Alice Haynes.
"He is for Amo Racing," said Haynes. "I watched him breeze yesterday and I put in my catalogue 'nice', 'very good' and 'out of my price range'. Kia texted me this morning and asked what I thought of him and I said that I liked him, I liked him a lot but he is out of my price range, but I was going to follow him through.
"He has a great constitution, and a stand out for the sale and liked everything about him, he looks a real speedy sort and is everything we want. Grove Stud is a great place to buy of and produces winners," said Haynes. "He is one to crack on with and we will get him out as soon as we can."
The colt is out of the Dandy Man mare Abbakova, she was a winner at two and Listed placed in the Tipperary Stakes and the Marble Hill Stakes. She is dam of the six-time winner and Spring Cup (L) runner-up Deep Intrigue.
It is the further family of Prohibit, winner of the King's Stand Stakes (G1). (15:31)
Lot 135: becomes the new top lot, selling for €160,000 to Jono Mills for Rabbah Bloodstock. There was interest from all around the ring, but it was Mills, who was sat in the seats opposite the rostrum, who prevailed with most competition coming from Alessandro Marconi.
"He is for Rabbah," said Mills. "The colt is by Bernardini, who is a wonderful stallion, he is a lovely horse and did a great breeze. He is going to Dubai and will head out in July. There are lots more opportunities developing in Dubai with the extended racing programme."
The colt, a $20,000 pinhook, was sold by Knockanglass Stables is out of the Eurosilver mare Bella Flor. (16:22)
Lot 151: the Saxon Warrior filly from Katie Walsh's Greenhills Farm sells for a record price at the Goresbridge Breeze Up, the filly fetching €520,000, smashing the previous record price of £410,000 set at last year's sale.
She is the third most-expensive breeze up filly sold in Europe this year after the two sold at Newmarket's Craven Sale (Lot 96 and Lot 81A).
The filly was bred by James Hanly's Ballyhimikin Stud, and is out of the Giant's Causeway mare Causeway Queen, dam of the Listed-placed Surbett and a daughter of Ask For The Moon (Dr Fong), winner of the Prix Saint-Alary (G1). The stud always likes to keep a few back from the yearling sales to sell at the breeze up sales and this filly was one of the selected.
"It is fantastic, she is a gorgeous filly, cracking filly with a lovely pedigree and she just filled the eye for everyone," said a delighted Katie Walsh, who has previously topped the Goresbridge Sale in 2018 with the Frankel filly East, also bought by Stephen Hillen. She cost a then record price of €315,000 and went on to win the Group 3 Prix Thomas Byron, finish second in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf and third in the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches.
Walsh added: "I think everyone was quite surprised with the time that she did with the physical that she is. I was lucky enough to sell East to Stephen Hillen at the old Goresbridge and I hope this filly turns out as lucky.
"I knew coming here that she was going to clock well, I had a fair idea that she is a tasty filly – all she had done is please me since I have had her. She has always been a straightforward filly with a great galloping stride and a great attitude.
"With those sort of fillies it just comes so naturally to them. It is just different gravy. Whatever gallop you went, whatever distance you went, it was never a problem to her whether it was a canter on the sand on a Monday morning, or a piece of work – everything was so easy, and that is the difference."
Of the plan to send this filly to the Goresbridge Sale, Walsh said: "I think she was growing and developing all the time last autumn and is quite a big filly so she was one that James decided to miss selling as a yearling.
"I think he felt that as I had sold East at this sale and that Goresbridge has always been good to me, he just matched the two of those facts up together. And it has worked for him! It was always the plan to come to this sale with her she would stand out here and she certainly did."
Successful purchaser Hillen said: "She is a completely different shape to East, but she kind of reminded me of her breeze – it was almost freakish. This filly is bred to go a mile plus or 1m2f, with her pedigree she should not be able to do what she is doing, and she is big raw individual.
"She won't do much now for the next month, canter after about a month and, hopefully, once she is able to go a mile then her speed she could be massive. She is going to Kevin Ryan and is for a new client."
Hillen outlined a little further: "It is not really the pedigree, it is the style of the breeze, I think the good ones I have bought from the breeze ups are the ones who don't look like they are going quick, but they are big striding, which she is, and doing it with less energy. I think they are the ones to buy. I am hoping she is a freak!"
Underbidders included Alex Elliott and Richard Brown.
Causeway Queen does not have a foal at foot, but is back in foal to Saxon Warrior. (17:14)
Lot 156: Jono Mills and Rabbah Bloodstock go again, this time for a filly by Super Saver and sold by Hyde Park Stud for €130,000. She is joining Lot 135 on the flight to Dubai and will be trained out in the Middle East.
"She is a lovely filly, breezed very well and she comes from a good farm," said Mills. (17:50)
Lot 189: this Night Of Thunder filly is bought by Joe Foley on behalf of Clipper Logistics for €270,000, sold by Grove Stud.
"I loved her as a foal and regretted not buying her as a foal," said Foley. "I saw her on video three nights ago and said 'I am buying her this time!'
"I loved her breeze, she is a beautiful filly and it is the lovely Night Of Thunder / Green Desert cross, Dancing Brave features three times in the pedigree. She is a beautifully bred filly, it is a deep family and she is gorgeous. She goes to Karl Burke." (18:15)
Lot 196: a third lot to sell in excess of €200,000 was Tally-Ho Stud’s Exceed And Excel colt (Lot 196), a half-brother to the Group 3 winners Dibajj and Black Sea. He fetched €260,000 and was bought by Billy Jackson-Stops.
“He is going to Andrew Balding, and for owner Michael Blencowe,” reported Jackson-Stops. “We have waited a while to fill the order, Michael is a big supporter of Andrew’s and has a runner in the 2,000 Guineas on Saturday. We have been to three breeze up sales and not really got there, but Michael really liked this colt, and Andrew really liked this colt, too. He ticks the boxes, he is from a good consignor, he is a decent horse and has a decent pedigree.” (18:52)
Lot 201: this filly by Gleneagles and out of the Bernardini mare Heartlines, is sold by Hyde Park Stud to Blandford Bloodstock for €210,000.
She was pinhooked by the farm for 12,500gns at the October Book 3 and is a grand-daughter of the Grade 3 winner Marietta (Machiavelian). (18:55)

(12:42)
Lot 58: one of the expected stars of the day did not disappoint – the Kapgarde filly offered by Lakefield Farm, makes €310,000 to one winning bid from Eddie O'Leary standing with Gordon Elliott. The purchase was signed as Gordon Elliott Racing.
The bidding quickly sped up through the ranks with Joey Logan on the balcony by the rostrum and Coolmara Stud opposite, the pair locking horns. In the end both were trumped by O'Leary, who placed just once bid.
"She is for an existing client," said Elliott, who trains her two-time Grade 1-winning half-brother Mighty Potter. "She looks a star, a pick of the sale, hopefully she will be lucky and as a broodmare she has a lot of residual, too. But we will worry about racing first!
"She is more like Mighty Potter than Caldwell Potter, she looks like she will be nice and hopefully she will be lucky!"
Aside from Mighty Potter, the mare is also a half-sister to the Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed French Dynamite and Indiana Jones, a Grade 2-placed son of Blue Bresil.
After the sale, John Bleahen of Lakefield was quite emotional: "She was bought privately from breeder Mr Cottin. He is an extremely nice man, a great breeder, in his 80s and he has retired since.
"She was bought with my brother Niall, we are very lucky to hit on her. Mouse Morris has made a lot of the family, since and it is just wonderful to have such interest in her. She never stopped here and never turned a hair. She was shown by Dermot Clarke, he is just the best showman in the world."
The Bleahen's brothers purchased the filly in 2019, subsequently Mighty Potter, French Dynamite and Indiana Jones have picked up their black-type.
It is the highest price given at the Derby Sale since 2018, the highest-priced filly since 2006 and the second €300,000+ lot sold by Lakefield, the farm having previously sold the Derby Sale 2015 top lot for €320,000.
It is the most given for a NH store horse so far in 2022. (13:25)
Lot 79: another strike for Blue Bresil, the Kingston family's Springmount Stud-offered gelding, a half-brother to the Listed-placed winner Miss Night Owl (Midnight Legend) and a further five other winners, makes €100,000.
It is a second by the sire bought by Jonjo O'Neill this morning – the trainer previously went to €130,000 with Tom Malone for Lot 12.
This horse was bought in association with Stroud Coleman. (14:23)
Lot 114: the Brown Island Stables-consigned Flemensfirth filly sells for €160,000, MV Magnier the buyer with Tom Lacey, standing by the bid board, a resigned underbidder.
"We bought here as a foal off Bobby McCarthy, a great breeder," said Johnny Collins of Brown Island. "I had bought Relegate, she won the Cheltenham bumper and I didn't want anyone else to have her, I wanted to sell her as a store! This filly was a queen, and has an amazing temperament. She had a lot of admirers."
Her full-brother Porthill, who finished second on debut in a Fairyhouse point-to-point in April, made £250,000 at a later sale. He was in training with Colin McKeever and is now with Willie Mullins
MV Magnier said: "She is a lovely filly and there are a lot of options for mares nowadays. Flemensfirth has done well with the family – her brother is supposed to be a nice horse. We will get her broken in and decide on plans from there."
In addition to Relegate, the family also includes the black-type winners Funny Times, Mrs Hyde and Better Times Ahead. (15:35)

Lot 161: "He is going to be trained by Matthew Flynn O'Connor for a small syndicate that includes him, myself and Cormac Doyle. He is a lovely horse and if he can go on and win a point-to-point, he will be worth a pretty penny," said bloodstock agent Hamish Macauley after spending €130,000 on the already named Pierrot Jaguen (Saint des Saints).
"His dam has already done it, too," he added.
Soif D'Aimer has had two winners, including Saint Pierrot, placed in a Listed hurdle at Auteuil. (17:24)
Lot 174: Kapgarde is dominating proceedings, the sire's gelding Touquet is bought by Tom Malone and Paul Nicholls for €185,000. With the buying team was Graeme and Yvonne Brooks, owners of Old Guard and Black Corton.

Malone said: "Paul knows the sire well and knows the family well – he said that Tatenen was a very good horse, 150-rated horse, but tough to train. This was a stand-out today and Paul fell in love with him this morning. I only showed him ten and left this one to last (there is method to the madness!) and he said, 'Well this is the one, isn't it?!' He will go to Will Biddick from here and I am delighted to get him."
Malone only had one bid: "I said to Paul he would be somewhere in the middle of €150,000 to €200,000." (18:03)

Lot 203: it is a good early stint for Brown Island – after selling Lot 201, Johnny Collins's farm steps back in again to the sale ring and enjoys another six-figures sale, this time a daughter of Buck's Boum named Jena D'Oudairies. She is a half-sister to Gamin D'Oudairies, a Listed chase winner in France and Grade 3 placed.
Tom Malone / Paul Nicholls was the successful buyer at €125,000.
The pair also going to €100,000 for following Lot 204, Jeriko Place (Masked Marvel), sold by Sluggara Farm. (10:52)
Lot 213: the gorgeous-looking Maxios gelding sold by Oaks Farm Stables becomes this week's second lot to sell in excess of €200,000 when making €230,000. The gelding was pinhooked as a yearling in 2020 for €30,000 and boasts a top-class Flat pedigree that includes Masked Marvel, Waldgeist and Waldpark.
A delighted Mark Dwyer of Oaks Farm said: "Brendan Holland from Grove Stud bought him as a yearling, and four of us took a leg – Roger Marley, Brendan, myself and Willie Browne. He has turned into a lovely horse, thank god.
"Lots of people seem to have a good horse by Maxios – Gordon has a good horse, Willie has one, Aiden Murphy; they were keen and they played on the back of that. For me this horse is a great advert for the sire, and he has a great mind.
"He is out of a Nathaniel-winning mare and there was also the update with Willie [Mullins's] good horse."
The Grade 1 pedigree update came courtesy of Mullins's good runner – Vauban (Galiway), a grandson of second dam Gifted Icon, who won the Champion 4yo Juvenile Hurdle at Punchestown (G1).
The horse was bought between a trio of Bobby O'Ryan, Aidan O'Brien and Gordon Elliott.
The older O'Ryan said: "He is for an existing owner and he is going to Gordon. I just loved the horse and we have a very good horse by Maxios called The Mediator. This is a gorgeous horse. He was the one I wanted today.
"He has a lovely pedigree and hopefully he won't take a lot of time."
Elliott also trained the first good NH runner by the sire – Quilixios who won the Triumph Hurdle (G1) and the Spring Juvenile Hurdle (G1) for Elliott.
Harold Kirk was today's underbidder. (11:49)
Lot 225: one of the expected big lots of today did not disappoint – the Walk In The Park gelding from Castletown Quarry Stud fetching €230,000.
He was bought in partnership between Joey Logan and Ballycrystal Stable's Matthew Flynn O'Connor as a point-to-point prospect.
"I thought he was one of the best Walk In The Parks that I have seen, we bought a lot of them last year and we have been lucky with them. His dam has had three winners from three runners so Matty and myself have bought him together – he was too expensive to buy hm on our own," said Logan, adding: "Matty is going to train him and get him to win a point-to-point and get him sold then. Matty had a great year, he is very good, a very good up-and-coming young trainer."
Of the gelding's price, Logan said: "He cost a lot more than expected, but we have gone for quality and he had been a big punt, but we were in good company."
That company as referenced to by Logan was the gelding's underbidder, Paul Shanahan.
Out of the Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed mare Zuzka (Flemensfirth), the April-born three-year-old was bred by the Parkhill family's Castletown Quarry Stud.
Kenneth Parkhill said: "I always thought this horse was a special horse."
Recalling why he chose Walk In The Park as a mate for Zuzka, he said: "Walk In The Park was the talking horse and results speak for themselves."
"This horse has been no-stop here for three days, in, out, in and out. It has been a lucky family for us over the years."
Zuzka has a colt foal at foot by Jet Away and is currently not in-foal. (12:20)
Today's early trade is on fire... THE second session of the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale has kicked off with some exceptional trade – the first 32 lots through the ring, sold in two hours, has produced two lots sold for €230,000, each as well as a further three six-figure lots.
The early turnover is a touch over €2 million at €2,007,000 with an average price of €62,719 and a median of €51,000. (12:42)
Lot 247: the demand for progeny by Walk In The Park continues... this gelding sold by Kilminfoyle House Stud, makes €220,000 bought by Aiden Murphy for MV Magnier, who was at the Derby Sale yesterday but is not on the sale ground today.
"He is a lovely horse, one of the nicest Walk In The Park in the sale," said Murphy. "I tried on the one earlier and did not get him, it was one of tother. There are no plans are yet."
Michael Fitzpatrick of Kilminfoyle said: "He was a €43,000 foal at the November Sale and I bought him with my dad Eamon, he picked him out. Rai Santos prepped him and Pamela Coogan led him up. Both have been with me a long time.
"I wish the new connections the very best, the sire is a fantastic sire, everybody wants one, and the best is yet to come for him. A lot of people did say this was nicest horse in the sale, which is a very hard thing to do. I often come here thinking I have a nice horse, but when you get here it is not. But it is great when you have the best judges saying the same thing."
The gelding is out of Aulne River (River Mist), the dam of five winners from eight runners, her winners including Wait For Me, who finished third in the Champion Bumper in 2015. (13:13)
Lot 253: the son of Jukebox Jury and sold by the stallion's farm Burgage Stud makes €120,000. He is bought by Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins.
The grey gelding is from the stud's long-curated family of Briar Hill, Jazzaway and Boston Bob. (14:02)
Lot 281 and Lot 282: consecutive lots by Walk In The Park continue the high demand for the sire's progeny .... Lot 281 from Glenvale Stud and out of the Yeats mare Blinxt, a half-sister to the 26-time winner Hurricane Fly, is bought for €105,000 by Harley Dunne and Ballyboy Stables, while Lot 282 from Dromoland Farm makes €120,000.
The gelding is out of Blodge (Kalanisi), dam of the Grade 3 winner Impervious and a daughter of Bilboa, a Grade 2 winner and Grade 1 placed over hurdles. It is also the family of Makounji and Roulez Cool. He was bought by Tom Malone and Paul Nicholls. (15:33)
Lot 307: Cheytac, by Authorized and out of Cheyrac, is bought by Henrietta Knight outbidding Tom Malone and Paul Nicholls at €220,000. He was sold by Walter Connor's Sluggera Farm, pinhooked on his behalf privately in France.
"He is for Mike Grech," said Knight. "I have seen the horse a lot before today. I always love the horses that Walter buys as foals in France and I love seeing them growing up in the fields. He never tells me what they are by, I take a few photographs and I have a photo of this horse as a two-year-old as i picked him out, I loved him.
"He is a gorgeous horse, he is such an athlete, I love his action. He is a real racehorse, on his pedigree he could win on the Flat and over jumps, he is just the all-rounder a lovely, lovely horse," said Knight. "I love Authorized and I have bought I Am Maximus for Mike, he is by Authorized.
"This horse will come to me in England and when ready will go to Willie Mullins," added Knight.
Connors explained his reasoning behind the lack of information given last year to Knight.
"It was a need to know basis at that stage, I told her which was which when the catalogue came out. She saw him in the field loose, and liked him ever since as did we. Seamus Murphy buys a lot of my foals and he did the job for me. I need to thank him. Authorized has been lucky for us and we have had a few of them over the years.
Accompanying his agent to the Derby Sale, the gelding's new owner Grech said: "Hen has been very very keen on this horse throughout the last seven to 14 days, we knew that we needed to be brave today, and we have shown a lot of courage today. I am very pleased that we managed to purchase this horse, there was huge competition. He is by a great great sire, has a great pedigree, the way he moves, he just looks a racehorse. Willie loves this sire and we believe that he will do a great job with this horse."
Of his visit to Tattersalls and Ireland, Grech made some interesting comments regarding future plans: "Incredible, and I am impressed with Ireland altogether. The Irish set-up is very, very much on my mind, in terms of spending a little bit more time in Ireland. Some decisions are going to be made around that during the course of the off season, so you will probably see an awful lot more of me in Ireland."
Of this year's Derby Sale, Knight said: "There are some lovely horses here, there usually are, and you know how much I like Tattersalls. I am no stranger to Tattersalls, I have not been disappointed this year and the hospitality is fantastic." (15:56)
Lot 328: the only lot by Racinger offered at this year's Derby Sale makes €100,000, bought by Hamish McCauley.
Named Jeu De Pic, the gelding was sold by Brook Lodge Stud, who purchased him for €26,000 as a two-year-old.
Racinger (Spectrum) retired to stud in 2010 and now stands at Haras de Vains in France. His leading performer to date is Farouk D'alene, a Grade 2 winner in February and trained by Gordon Elliott. (16:38)
Lot 337: another lot sells for over €200,000, the son of Getaway makes €210,000 bought by Henrietta Knight again on behalf of Mike Grech.
He is a first foal out of Dreambaby (Yeats), pinhooked by Summerhill for €95,000 and sold today by Norman Williamson's Oak Tree Farm.
"He is another gorgeous horse, and I am a big fan of Getaway," said Knight. "He has been beautifully prepared and comes from a wonderful female line. I have not had anything from the line before."
Dreambaby is a daughter of Monumental, the dam of Rhinestone Cowboy, Wichita Lineman and grand-dam of Dunhallow Gesture, Me And Ben and Coney island. (17:00)
Lot 346: the son of Sholokhov makes €150,000, sold by Moanmore Stables and bought by David Phelan.

Sholokhov is sire of the Cheltenham Festival winners Bob Olinger, Shishkin and Don Cossack. (18:06)
