(11:35)
Lot 44:
a packed sale ring welcomed this son of the late Mount Nelson, a half-brother to the dual Grade 1 winner Battleoverdoyen, and he did not disappoint his audience selling for €55,000, bought by Aiden Murphy.
He was sold by breeder Caroline Berry with son Chris, who are based in Banbridge, County Down.
"We bought the mare in France as a maiden mare through Highflyer Bloodstock," said Berry, who has around nine NH mares at home. "She is only small but she throws sizeable foals. She has been a lot of fun for us. She is empty at the moment but will probably return to Doyen."
This foal was a born in June and the late birth date meant that the Berrys did not consider for the November NH Foal Sale as an option for the young yearling preferring instead to wait for this sale.
Of the decision to cover their mare with Mount Nelson, the Berrys said: "He was a gorgeous horse, we loved him and the Floods of Boardsmill Stud are always so great to deal with. It is such a shame the stallion has gone."
Buyer Aiden Murphy said: "This colt was a fairly obvious one really with that pedigree – it is improving too. I have not bought any before by Mount Nelson, but he is a very promising sire of NH horses.
"This colt has been bought to come back to the Derby Sale."
(12:03)

(13:01)
Lot 69:

This colt was sold by Yellowford Farm, who also sold the top-priced Getaway foal in November (colt out of Dreambaby from the family of Rhinestone Cowboy) for €95,000.

Sold by The Beeches Stud, the colt is out of Florafern, an Alflora daughter of the eight-time winner Mossy Fern.
"He is a real athlete," said Ferguson. "I saw him at just two weeks old and liked him then and followed him. He was never going to be a November Sale foal being so late. I have had luck buying from the Beeches before."

(14:13)
Lot 130:
the son of the late sire Network is signed by Jim Mernagh for J and J at €42,000 bought from Thistletown Stud.
When asked what he liked about the foal, Mernagh said: "He's a Network!"
Mernagh added: "There were only six foals by the sire last year so this lad will have some rarity when he sells. This is a smashing colt."
Network died as a 14-year-old and his leading performer is, of course, the three-time the Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Sprinter Sacre. In total, he was an 18-time winner and won nine Grade 1 races.
(14:56)
Lot 154:
Mags O'Toole, last weekend's winner of the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders' Wild Geese Award at the ITBA awards dinner, spends €36,000 on a colt by Buck's Boum. He was sold by Galbertstown Stud and is already named Shengai Enki.
"He is a great athlete, and is by a stallion who has already had a Gold Cup winner – he'll be back here and let's hope he makes money," smiled O'Toole.
Buck's Boum, a 15-year-old son of Cadoudal and standing in France at Haras d'Enki, is sire of Al Boum Photo, last year's Gold Cup (G1) winner for trainer Willie Mullins. Other good runners by the sire include Duc Des Genievres, the winner of the Arkle Chase (G1) at last year's Cheltenham Festival.
"He has been bought for Chris Jones of Killeen Glebe Stud," continued O'Toole.

Aiden Murphy buys a fourth lot today – a €35,000 son of Walk In The Park.
He is out of the black-type mare Lonesome Dove (Milan), a half-sister to her talented half-siblings Wrath of Titans Thunder And Roses, Shirley Casper and Oligarch Society.
Murphy is today's leading buyer by aggregate so far having spent €129,000 on his four.

193 goes for €25,000. He is a son of Milan, who is currently heading the 2019-20 NH sires' table, and out of the three-time winner Miss Toulon.
Youmzain is a sire of black-type winners under both codes, including Sea Calisi, a Grade 1 winner of the Beverly D Stakes, and the Group 2 winner Royal Youmzain.
His leading NH performer so far is Saglawy, rated 147 and trained by Willie Mullins.
Youmzain, a son of Sinndar, is standing his third season at Glenview Stud at a fee of €2,000.
(17:07)

"This is a neat, good-walking sort and is for a client based in Britain. Obviously we know the family well!"
He was sold by Ballincurrig House Stud.
(17:33)

the Annaghroe Stable-consigned Soldier Of Fortune colt, out of the two-time winner Now Lets Go (Flemensfirth), is bought by Sluggara Farm (Walter Connors) for €30,000.

(17:51)
Lot 229:
George Haine buys a Soldier Of Fortune colt for €31,000 with a view for resale.

Offered by Lough Na Sollis Stud, the colt is a grandson of the Listed hurdle winner Harringay (King's Theatre).
(18:27)
Lot 243:
only a handful of horses by the King's Best sire Creachadoir have gone through a Tattersalls Ireland sale ring – the most expensive so far being the 2018 Derby Sale graduate sold by Glen Stables to Colin Bowe for €55,000. He is now called Royal Power, is trained by Colin Tizzard and has finished second and then fourth in his two starts to date.
The son of the sire offered today by Yellowford Farm fetched €28,000 and was bought by Norman Williamson's Oak Tree Farm.
The colt is out of a four-time-wining Dark Moondancer half-sister to Vol De Brion, a Listed winner and Grade 3 placed French chaser.
It is also the further family of the talented Grade 1 Feltham Novice Chase winner Djeddah.
Creachadoir stands at Haras de Lonray in France.
(18:59)
Lot 259:
is the new top lot for the February Sale 2020 – bloodstock agent Ryan Mahon spending €60,000 on this son of the French sire No Risk At All.
There was plenty of competition for the well-grown son of the Haras de Montaigu-based sire, who is standing for €7,000 in 2020.
Mahon stepped in at €55,000 for the Rahinston Stud-offered April-born colt and saw off underbidder agent Hamish Macauley at the winning bid.
"He is for owner Colm Donlon and has been bought to race," said Mahon. "He is a lovely foal, strong, correct and athletic. He is by a sire who is going places and the mare has done it already.
"There are no training plans as yet, but he could even be a sort to send to race in France as a three-year-old and then bring back to Britain."
The colt's dam Sardagna (Medaaly) has bred five winners from five runners including Amore Alto, a Listed hurdles winner and a Grade 1 third in the Kauto Star Novices Chase.
The sale topped a good day for Rahinston Stud – Lorna Fowler trains the winner of the day's bumper at Down Royal, a filly by Califet called Lady Heath.
(19:35)
Lot 292:
the Champs Elysees half-brother to the 20-time winner, dual Grade 1 hero and seven-times Grade 1 placed The New One, makes €40,000.

(10:48)
Lot 10:
the good-breezing Mayson colt from Knockanglass Stables fetches £41,000. He was bought by a determined agent Richard Ryan, standing on the back wall and taking instructions over the telephone.
"He is going into training with Roger Teal, who does very well with sons of the sire!"smiled Ryan referencing to Oxted, Teal's recent Group 1 July Cup winner who is by the Cheveley Park Stud-based sire. "This horse was well produced, is a great model and is for an owner already with Roger. He owns Gussy Mac, whom I also bought and is a Listed-winning two-year-old. Hopefully, we will repeat the dose!"
The Mayson colt was bought as a pinhook prospect by Kilronan for £7,000 at the Tattersalls Ascot September Yearling Sale.
(11:05)
Lot 17:
Lot
17: the Free Eagle colt from Knockgraffon Stable is bought by trainer David Simcock for £82,000.
"His breeze really caught the eye, the sire has been doing very well, and this is a horse for the future," said Simcock, who was sat with Jamie Spencer. "He is for an existing client."
(11:29)
Lot 26:
the son of Night Of Thunder, offered by Katie Walsh's Greenhills Farm, sells for £160,000, bought by Mark McStay of Avenue Bloodstock.
"The sire speaks for himself, he is doing fantastic things. This horse did an exceptional breeze, he vetted particularly well and was well presented by Katie. I am delighted to get a Night Of Thunder, they are only going to get more expensive as the year goes on. He is for an existing client, goes to Ireland and probably to John Oxx," said McStay.
A delighted Walsh said: "That was fantastic, he was always straightforward. He is from Micheal Ryan of Al Eile Stud, they bred him and didn't go to a yearling sale. They decided they would go to the breeze ups, my father [Ted] trains for Michael Ryan, Micheal's father. When Pat Connell, who works for them, rang me and asked if I would take this horse to breeze, I said: 'Absolutely no problem'."
Walsh added: "He breezed really well. He has been with since the middle of January. It is a fantastic result, it is great for the breeder, and great for Greenhills Farm, as well. Hopefully, he will go on now and be lucky for Mark McStay and his owners."
Of the change of sale venue, Walsh said: "Personally, I was delighted to see the sale moved to here, you need the British clientele and the British-based clients, this is where they are. It is apparent when you go into the sale ring.
"He is an April foal and the breeders wanted to give him every chance - he is tall scopey and rangy and so this Goresbridge sale was always the plan. Goresbridge has been very lucky for me in the past, I was delighted to come here with him.
And of the breeze up season, the consignor added: "Trade has been great, it has not been an ideal year for everyone, but trade has been really good and everyone's getting them sold, that's the main thing. We can all go back shopping in a couple of weeks now, and that is what it is all about, it has been a short turnaround for everyone."
(11:58)
Lot 43:
a second lot by Charm Spirit catches the buyers' eyes today... Gay Kelleway goes to £43,000 for the Longway Stables-offered colt, a €10,000 yearling pinhook
He is the first foal out of the Listed Radley Stakes-placed Fourth Way (Iffraaj) and was bred by The Fourth Way Partnership.
(12:23)
Lot 74:
becomes our new top lot, this filly by leading US Turf sire Kitten's Joy is sold by Grove Stud for £220,000. It is a fine pin-hooking result – she was bought for just $27,000 as a yearling last September.
A delighted Brendan Holland of Grove said: "I bought her off my pals at Hunter Valley, I saw her when I went over last year, thankfully they sold her to me. She has done really well, she is a lovely, lovely filly, she has loads of quality. She is very natural always, delighted it is a great result.
The filly's sale was the penultimate breeze up offering from Grove Stud in 2020. "It is a great end to the season. Personally we have done fine, and most consignors are relieved it is all over and everyone is still in the game, I'd say. I look forward to relaxing and watching Goodwood next week, but we have got yearlings in and starting to prep them."
The successful buyer was Jamie Spencer, bidding on behalf of trainer David Simcock, while the thwarted underbidder was Alex Elliott.
(12:46)

(13:24)
Lot 98:
The Bloodstock Connection's Night of Thunder filly is bought by Rabbah Bloodstock for £85,000. Jono Mills signed the docket – Mills and Rabbah have even more reason than many to appreciate the qualities of the sire's progeny ... they purchased the sire himself at the 2012 October Book 1 Sale.
(13:30)
Lot 99:
Katie Walsh's good day continues... she sells the Power ex Dusty Moon colt to Peter Nolan Bloodstock for £60,000.

Lot 172 and Lot 173:
we mentioned too early that Greenhills Farm was having a good day – it has just got even better as the farm's last lot through the ring today, a colt by Lope De Vega sells for £100,000.
He was purchased by Peter Nolan, who also spent £60,000 on Lot
99, a colt by Power and also consigned by Greenhills, and £40,000 on Lot
173, a filly by Camelot.
"They are for the same client, who is new to me," said Nolan. "They will head to Ireland. The colt looks as though he will be a two-year-old type, the others are more types to have a couple of backend runs and be prepared for a three-year-old career."
Nolan is heading from here to Doncaster for the NH Store Sale and on Monday, July 27 features the Tattersalls Ireland Derby and May Sale and Goffs Land Rover joint supplementary catalogue.
Walsh, understandably delighted with her day, said: "He was a pinhook for a client. He came to me in January and has just developed all the way through. He is a backend two-year-old type and will be a three-year-old. The sire is on fire and this is a lovely sort."
(15:04)
