Black Orange tops Tattersalls Ireland Ascot July Sale
Black Orange was the highlight of the 2017 Ascot July Sale when knocked down for £54,000 on a day that saw 111 lots selling for an aggregate of £608,600, an average of £5,483, a median of £3,000 and a clearance rate of 78%. Black Orange (Lot 46) proved himself successful on the track having won and being placed three times on all of his four starts. Offered by Gay Kelleway Racing to Dissolve a Partnership, the Pastoral Pursuits colt caught the eye Qatar based trainer and bloodstock manager Debbie Mountain and was knocked down for £54,000.
Agent Tom Malone purchased three lots at the Ascot July Sale. The largest sum of £40,000 came for Lot 118, Eneko, a Laverock three-year-old who is a winner already in France. Consigned by Le Bas Du Bourg, the gelding comes with an enviable collection of relations with HUSSARD COLLONGES and NEPTUNE COLLONGES in his pedigree.
Nicely Indeed (Lot 160) a dual bumper winner and placed twice in hurdle company, was offered by KC Bailey's Throndale Farm was snapped up by Ownaracehorse Ltd. for £32,000.

Significant increases at the Ascot August Sale This year's Tattersalls Ireland Ascot August Sale witnessed significant increases and strong demand throughout the entire sale. Rises in the average of 32% to £6,970 and median of 100% to £4,000 resulted in an increased aggregate of £585,500 (+30%) and a healthy clearance rate of 84% (+17%).
The highlight of the sale was offered by the day’s leading consignor Godolphin. Hersigh, a filly by Poet’s Voice with two wins on her CV and boasting a black-type pedigree being a half-sister to Listed winner ENNAADD and out of Listed winner ZAYN ZEN, fetched the top price when knocked down to Michael Donohoe of BBA Ireland for £52,000. The Godolphin consignments are a popular addition to the Tattersalls Ireland Ascot Sales, and today’s draft accumulated £232,800 for the 19 strong lots offered.
Agent Aidan ‘Mouse’ O’Ryan and trainer Gordon Elliott teamed up to buy four lots at the Ascot August Sale. £32,000 was the price for Lot 103, Rakhine State, an Arakan four-year-old who was placed 3rd in a bumper on his only start under the guidance of trainer Ross O’Sullivan. Earlier in the day, O’Ryan and Elliott secured Lot 55, Commentariolus, a well-bred colt by Frankel consigned by Ecurie. P.Bary for £30,000. The career path intended for Commentariolus is Juvenile Hurdling, possibly making him the first of Frankel’s offspring to be seen in the National Hunt ranks.
The third highest price was paid for the Presenting gelding Arizona Bound who ran out the clear cut 18 length winner of a bumper at Uttoxeter last month. Boasting a strong National Hunt pedigree featuring Rhinestone Cowboy and Wichita Lineman, the five-year-old was purchased by Jim Goldie for £32,000.

Born To Size heads the Tattersalls Ireland Ascot November Sale Born To Size, a winning five-year-old gelding by Sholokhov, was the main attraction at the Tattersalls Ireland Ascot November Sale today. Trade saw a set of statistics finish with an aggregate of £420,900 an average of £4,575 and a median of £2,000. The median remained on par to last year and finished at 67%.
The sale topper, Born To Size (Lot 153) boasting decent form with a 2nd in a Maiden Hurdle during the summer and following that up with a win in a Beginners Chase at Thurles impressively by four lengths. Consignor Liam Burke's Winacre Stables, trained the gelding to both his successes and it was Tom Malone, who regularly makes his presence felt at this venue, who signed the docket at £35,000.
Stroud Coleman Bloodstock and American based Sean Clancy signed for the next highest price lot consigned by Alan King's Barbury Castle Stables. Gibralfaro (Lot 148), a winner of six races, both on the flat and over hurdles, was knocked down for £28,000.
Godolphin, consistently leading consignors at this venue, sold the third top lot at the Ascot November Sale. Wedding Photo (Lot 98), a Lonhro three-year-old filly who is a half-sister to Group 3 winner TOP SURPRISE, Listed winner DR JOHN'S and Listed placed Cosmic Queen heads to Ireland as trainer Peter Fahey secures her for £25,000.

These include winning and placed four-year-old Point to Pointers, Maiden Point to Pointers and a placed bumper performer.
