Placed three times out of his four starts, the Oscar gelding was knocked down to trainer Neil Mulholland for £26,000. Consistently the Godolphin draft is popular at Ascot and today was no different providing 5 of the top 10 lots and selling at an aggregate of £175,800. John O'Shea of Elton Racing purchased the third highest price of the day. Lot 91, Cape Dignity, a lightly raced Teofilo colt who was placed on both of his two outings, was knocked down to O'Shea for £20,000. Dark Magic, another Godolphin consigned lot (Lot 90) was the next lot. Today's sale at Ascot concludes a progressive year for the sales venue for 2016. The highlight of the year was undoubtedly the Two-Year-Old Breeze-Up held in April which saw vibrant trade and considerable increases including a 120% rise in the aggregate and 100% rise in the median. The June Sale witnessed the highest price for a National Hunt horse at the venue when KNOCK HOUSE was sold for £110,000. With improved trade at Ascot in 2016, Tattersalls Ireland now look forward to further enhancing sales in 2017 with the first sale, the March Sale on 23 March 2017. (09:32)

Strong returns at a successful Ascot March Sale
The Tattersalls Ireland Ascot March Sale got 2017 off to a strong start at the Ascot sales venue with an impressive set of returns produced for the first sale of the year. The decision to strategically place the sale the week after the Cheltenham Festival and to consolidate the sales previously held in February and April proved be a fruitful one with the aggregate resulting in £972,300, the median finishing on £4,500 and an impressive average of £8,171. A golden opportunity arose for the bloodstock industry to gain a much sought after individual when the Godolphin consigned LOST DIAMOND (Lot 77) entered the sales ring. A daughter of Dubawi and a half-sister to Group 2 Great Voltigeur winner CENTENNIAL and Listed winner SIREN'S SONG, the three-year-old filly proved popular among agents around the ring but it was Johnny McKeever of McKeever Bloodstock who signed the £70,000 docket and indicated that the filly will now travel to Australia. Agent Tom Malone, who was active at the Cheltenham Festival Sale last week, also made his presence felt at Ascot today when purchasing five lots for a total of £154,000. The most expensive of his purchases was Lot 121, SCORPION SID. The son of Scorpion displayed an eye-catching performance on his debut to finish second behind Western Honour (sold for £120,000 at last week's Cheltenham Festival Sale) in a five-year-old maiden. Offered by Newlands Farm, the gelding was secured by Malone for trainer Jamie Snowden for £50,000. The next three top lots were also purchased by Malone; Lot 80, DELFACE, a winner over hurdles just last week for Liz Doyle, was knocked down for £30,000. The Godolphin consigned MARIAN HALCOMBE, an unraced daughter of Bernardini was purchased for £30,000 and Lot 138, COCKLE BAY, the five-year-old was a winner at the Pigeons and offered by Colin Bowe's Milestone Stables was knocked down to Malone and Lucinda Russell for £28,000. Godolphin, consistently the leading Ascot Sale consignors ,again produced the leading draft at this venue when selling 26 lots for a total of £329,100 at an average of £12,658. At the conclusion of the sale, Director of Horses in Training Sales at Tattersalls Ireland, Richard Pugh commented; "The decision to consolidate the Ascot February and April Sales and strategically position the Ascot March Sale to the week after the Cheltenham Festival has proven to be the right one and the new date has been very well supported by vendors. The success of today's sale, which saw robust demand for Point to Pointers and the expected and anticipated trade for the exclusive draft from Godolphin, has demonstrated again that Ascot is a viable alternative for all categories of bloodstock. Today's sale has produced positive statistics with 13 horses selling for £20,000 or more and we now look forward to the Tattersalls Ireland Ascot Breeze-Up Sale on 4 and 5 April which saw the aggregate increase by 120% in 2016." (17:36)

Record Breaking Results at the Tattersalls Ireland Ascot Breeze-Up Sale
The Tattersalls Ireland Ascot Breeze-Up Sale made another stride forward on the back of considerable rises last year delivering an increased aggregate of £2,041,600 (+7%). For the first year on record, the sale pushed past the £2million turnover barrier and delivered a robust clearance rate of 80%. Headlining the sale was the Mocklershill consigned Worthadd colt out of two-time winning dam Malayan Heights (Lot 15). By The Irish National Stud's first season sire, the colt was knocked down for £130,000 to Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock, who were leading purchasers at the sale. Agent Alex Elliott dug deep and went to £100,000 to secure the only Street Cry offering of the sale. The colt (Lot 91), offered by Lynn Lodge Stud, is a half-brother to dual American track performer Force It and closely related to Black-Type performers NEBRASKA TORNADO and CORNHUSKER. Stroud Coleman were active at the Ascot Breeze-Up Sale purchasing the next two leading lots of the sale. Cool Silk Partnership whose familiar colours were carried to victory in the 2016 Norfolk Stakes at the Royal Meeting, hope to emulate that success when teaming up with Matt Coleman of Stroud Coleman Bloodstock to purchase Lot 5. By French sire Panis, the Bansha House Stud offering was sold for £75,000. Lot 57 also matched the price of £75,000. By the fashionable and sought after stallion Kodiac, Stroud Coleman also secured this colt, who is closely related to Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed ASPEN DARLING from Tally Ho Stud. Commenting on another successful sale at the Ascot venue, Tattersalls Ireland Director of Horses in Training Sales Richard Pugh commented; "In advance of the sale and based on the success of last years' sale which saw increases in the aggregate of 120%, we were cautiously optimistic that there would be strong demand at today's auction. This sentiment has been justified by breaking through the £2million barrier the first time on record for this sale and it has also been pleasing to produce an increased clearance rate of 80%. We would like to thank all those that supported the sale and we will endeavour to make further strides forward with this sale in 2018." (16:10)
