Lot 567: Linehan Bloodstock goes to €22,000 for the Arizona filly out of Exploitation (Excelebration). She is the dam of a winner since the catalogue was published – her first foal Esmeray (Sea The Moon), a winner in August. She has run three times and has been placed on her other two starts. She is trained by Ralph Becket and is due to run again tomorrow at Newbury... the early prices have her listed as favourite.
Ballintry Stud consigned the filly on behalf of breeder Jim Corcoran, who bought the mare for €9,500 in 2020. (13:13)
Lot 556: Ballyhane Stud's Joe Foley was keen to buy this filly by his farm's first-season sire Soldier's Call, currently second to Blue Point on the leading first-season sires' list by the number of winners (21), and the buyer went to €45,000 to ensure that he was taking this Ballyknock Stud-consigned filly home.
"I am delighted to have found her, she has a great pedigree – her second dam [Ameerat] won the 1,000 Guineas and there is loads of page here," said Foley, adding: "She is out of a Teofilo mare and we bought another by the sire out of a Teofilo mare on Tuesday for €57,000 [Lot 124].
"Not only is this a very well bred filly, she is a stunning, beautiful filly, too. She looks a really classy type and we really loved her. She will run in the Clipper Logistics colours."
Of the stallion Foley enthused: "The stallion has been very good to us and there is some very nice stock by him still to run. We are very keen to support them, and when you find a filly like this it is easy to give that support.
"We are delighted with Solider's Call's progress this summer, and this year did not really suit his stock as they need fast ground. We have some good ones still yet to run, and they are not all sprint-types.
"He has 15 horses rated over 80, and that is exceptional. He has had a first stakes winner, but he is unlucky not to have had more than one, he has had so many that have just missed. We are going to support him strongly from here, he is a good sire."
The filly was bred by David Laverty and he certainly enjoyed a fine pay day today – he purchased the mare Ebbraam for just 1,000gns from Godolphin.
"I bought her online through Covid in 2020," said the breeder who hails from County Armagh and keeps ten to 12 mares. "She had a Sea The Stars half-brother and an Iffraaj to come out – one has since achieved a rating of 104 and the other 95.
"Her two-year-old half-brother by Gleneagles is called Remaadd and he was placed in a Listed race at Haydock just last week."
Of this filly, Laverty said: "From day one as a foal she has always been all in proportion and is a great walker, and just been easy to do. She was still in the field until four weeks ago, she was thriving outside in the good weather. The team at Ballyknock has done a great job with her prep, it is great to see everyone getting a turn."
Of the choice to send the mare to Soldier's Call he said: "Joe has been great for us, and we have been a big supporter of him – and when if we have the right one, he is a big supporter of us. We have sent mares to Joe right from day one – his stallions get better and better each year. I can't speak highly enough of him."
Laverty concluded: "My father has been breeding horses for a lifetime and we have had the highs and very lows, it is nice to get a result." (12:05)
This week's busy buyers still sale ring active... Michael Cleere spends €7,000 on an Arizona colt (Lot 524), Razza Latina goes to €6,000 for a colt by Kessaar (Lot 516) and trainer Andy Oliver spends €10,000 on a colt by Ten Sovereigns (Lot 534).
Oliver's purchase is out of the Pivotal mare Brioniya, a daughter of the Pipalong Stakes (L) winner Bahia Breeze, and she has had a good summer on the racecourse – Miguel (Phoenix Of Spain) got off the mark earlier in September and has won or placed in all three career starts to date, while her five-year-old Bakhchisaray (Motivator), who has previous black-type Listed placed form, won and placed at Deauville. (11:40)
Lot 542: the first foal out of the winning two-year-old Cocohulababy (Casamento) is bought by Dan Astbury for €22,000.
"He is going to be syndicated and will go into training with Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero. The sire has good statistics, the horse looks a racehorse and should be a good fun two-year-old," outlined Astbury.
Cocohulababy ran and won over hurdles, and achieved a best HRI rating on the Flat of 85 as a juvenile. (11:21)

Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale
Day 2
Lot 439: the Boherguy Stud-offered colt by Teofilo fetched €82,000 bought by Matt Houldsworth, acting on behalf of an absent Richard Ryan.
Bred by trainer Jim Bolger, the colt is out of the winning New Approach Slaney East, who is closely related to the dual Group 1 and Classic winner Poetic Flare, and an own-sister to the Listed winner and Group 3 placed Glamorous Approach.
Ryan said: “I could not make it to the sale, but the colt came highly recommended by his breeder and I have seen plenty of footage of him. He is a physical doppelganger of a horse by the sire we had previously called Gear Up. Teofilo is top sire and this horse has a Classic page. He has been bought for a successful partnership and will remain in Ireland.” (17:44)
Lot 402: Aughamore Stud is another consignor to enjoy a fine pinhooking result today – the brothers Michael and Laurence Gleeson purchased this Make Believe colt for €17,000 last November and sold him today for €75,000 to Amanda Skiffington.
The yearling is out of Rohesia (High Chaparral) a half-sister to three black-type winners headed by the Group 3 winner Know It All, also Group 1-placed in the Prix Rothschild, and Astrophyiscal Jet, the speedy winner of the Flying Five Stakes (G3), the Dubai International World Trophy (G3) and third placed in the King George Stakes (G2) and the Firth Of Clyde Stakes (G3).
It is also the family of the Group 1 winners Kingdom Of Fife, a top-level winner in Australia, and Ask, winner of the Coronation Cup and the Prix Royal-Oak. (16:36)
Lot 391: Castletown Quarry Stud is well known for consigning NH sale-toppers at the Derby Sale, but the farm got itself a neat touch today when selling this colt by Belardo for €80,000, the colt having been purchased as a foal for just €6,500.
Peter Parkhill said modestly: "He was a lovely foal and did not take much imagination. He was a good foal and turned into a good yearling. He has been very simple all the way. We are only 20 minutes over the road so we try and keep it simple. We have always been very lucky here, with the NH horses especially, we like this place. Tatts is very good to us and we have never been as busy at a sale."
It has been a particularly good two draft for the farm selling four yearlings for an average price of €68,750 and a turnover of €195,000. Lot 20, a colt by Teofilo, bought by De Burgh Equine for €70,000 was another great pinhook result bought for 21,000gns.
Parkhill smiled: "We have had as good a week as we have had in a long time."
That concludes the farm's Flat sales for the season and the team will be back here in November for the NH Sale.
The colt was bought by Robin O'Ryan and he said: "He is for Richard Fahey. He is a fine horse, a nice horse. We had that sort of figure on him. We have not had many by Belardo." (15:38)
Lot 373: breeze-up man Mark Grant takes his haul of breeze-up prospects bought over the past day and a half to four when going to €80,000 for this colt by Sioux Nation.
"He was my pick of the sale, the sire is flying," smiled Grant. "I think he has got plenty in him, he looks like a Tattersalls Craven prospect. We will get him home, break him in and turn him out for a few weeks."
"I have bought too many!" he laughed when considering his purchases, before adding more seriously: "When you like them you have to buy them. You can wait for other sales and not buy and then think, 'Why did I not buy earlier?!'
"The horses I have bought I have liked, and I do like buying in Euros!"
Grant had his chief advisor on his shoulder through the bidding process, father-in-law and ex-trainer Noel Chance.
The colt was bred and sold by Glidawn Stud, and the farm's Gerry Burke said: "I loved Sioux Nation, he has had a fantastic year and we were lucky to come upon him at the right point. This is a nice colt, there were some really good judges on him and he has gone to a really good man in Mark Grant. I hope he is very lucky for him, that is most important thing. The breeze-up consignors buy a lot of horses and they put a great floor to the trade."
The colt's dam Princess Severus (Barathea) has produced four winners from five runners and is a half-sister to Sweet Acclaim, a Grade 3-placed daughter of Acclamation. The family traces to the blue hen mare and Group 1 winner Riviere D'Or, grand-dam of Goldikova, Galikova and this year's leading French sire Anodin. (14:50)
Lot 366: "He is going breezing, has been bought for a new breeze-up syndicate," outlined Tom Biggs of Blandford Bloodstock after spending €78,000 on this colt by leading first-season sire Blue Point. "Charlie and Francesca Poste, who have done point-to-pointers so well, are diversifying. We bought three yesterday and might buy one more, it has been a good start."
Of this colt, he said: "He is by a very good stallion in Blue Point, the pedigree is a bit light but if he breezes fast I am sure he will turn a profit."
The colt was sold by Oak Lodge & Springfield House Stud and Reddy Coffey, after congratulating the agent on his purchase, said: "It is great result. Blue Point looks like he is going to be a proper sire, we bought the mare Platinum Coast for just 4,500, she is by Speightstown. We thought the stallion's physique would suit the mare and he was a very fast horse, who does not like a fast horse?!"
Oak Lodge also had a particular reason for supporting Blue Point – the farm bred the subsequent dual Royal Ascot speedster out of their mare Scarlett Rose. (14:31)
Lot 347: John Foley of Ballyvolane Stud sold this pinhooked son of first-crop sire Wooded for 88,000gns to an online bid from Robson Aguiar. It is the second-best price given so far for a yearling by the Prix de l'Abbaye (G1) winner.
Foley recounted his involvement with this colt, who was bred by Mr Emir Albas.
"Wooded was a Group 1-winning son of Wootton Bassett and I really wanted to buy one by the sire," he said. "I bought him for €15,000 in February. He was a good-moving foal, a bit weak, and I thought there was a chance he might grow into a nice horse. He has thrived, really thickened out, and most people who saw him said that he was one of the better physicals here and that he stood out a little bit. He has been very popular."
Of the decision to sell at the September Sale, he said: "We always send five or six to sell at this sale, and always try to send a couple of nice horses. There are a lot of British trainers here and the Tattersalls Ireland team does a great job getting people to the sale. It has been a lucky sale for us – we sold Sir Busker here and last year we sold a nice Fast Company horse to Kennet Valley and he has run twice and won in September [Fast Society]. It has always been lucky sale for us."
Foley was keen to ensure that his teams at home and at the sales were given due recognition for all their hard work.
"I have a very good team of three at home, they are all trying really hard and working hard," he said. "The head man Conor Ryan had a leg in the colt and he will be chuffed. They are all great people and they try their best everyday. I also have had a great team here at the sale – with such good people here and at home it makes it very easy. We are trying to sell nice horses and it is great for all when it comes off." (14:01)
Lot 336: by Kuroshio and out of Nova Aquilae (Sea The Stars), this filly offered by Church View Stables is bought by Nick Bell for €60,000.
The mare was unraced, but is out of a Group 1 Coronation Stakes third-placed Dubawi mare Irish History. She is dam of two winners from three runners and is a closely related to the Group 2 winner and Group 1-placed Echo Of Light. (13:45)
Lot 313: one of only two catalogued here by this season's leading first-season stakes sire Too Darn Hot, and the only colt, this Forenaghts Stud-bred and consigned yearling makes €72,000.
He was bought as a breeze-up prospect by Johnny Hassett, who signed as JCH Bloodstock.
"I loved him, he has a bit of quality to him," said Hassett. "He is going to progress and is a work in progress, and eventually he will have a lot of substance – the bet is, that by May, he will be there. I liked the Too Darn Hots and this horse will decide which breeze-up sale he will get to."
Caoimhe Doherty, stud manager at Forenaghts, chatted to us about the sale and it is not the first time she has spoken to us about this colt – sales day live talked to her at Newmarket and before the colt was born – he was sold in utero with his mare Moment Of Silence (Slade Power) at the Tattersalls February Sale 2022, the stud paying 95,000gns for the mother and son.
"We bought her mainly because of the pedigree," said Doherty, adding: "She was also rated 94 and the Too Darn Hot cover wouldn't put anyone off."
Moving on to the now Doherty added: "The sire has really clicked this year and has had incredible two or three weeks. This colt is a lovely horse, very straightforward, a great walker and he vetted well. We are delighted with the price, the mare has basically paid for herself, and I am so pleased for Sharon and Tony Smurfit who bred him."
Of the decision to sell today at the September Sale, she said: "I thought he'd stand out at the sale with the pedigree, and I did not think there would be too many here by Too Darn Hot. We have been paid for him and we are thrilled."
Of the mare Doherty updated: "She has a beautiful Starspangledbanner foal at foot and she is-foal to Naval Crown, we went back to the Dubawi line. She has let down into the most beautiful mare, lovely and deep and a great walker, and the pedigree just keeps on giving."
Too Darn Hot is now the sire of three Group winners, including Fallen Angel, winner of the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes. (13:03)
Lot 268: trainer Andrew Balding, represented here by his mother Emma Balding, purchases a second lot at the sale, going to €45,000 for the Australia colt out of Looking Lovely (Storm Cat). The March-born foal was sold by Woodtown House, pinhooked by the farm for €21,000.
Looking Lovely is a half-sister to the Ballydoyle stars Duke Of Marmalade (Danehill), a five-time Group 1 winner and older European champion of 2008, Ruler Of The World (Galileo), the champion European three-year-old of 2013, the Australian Group 2 winner Annus Mirablis (Montjeu), and the Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed Norway (Galileo). (11:16)
Lot 264:   Ballylinch Stud turns from seller to buyer and goes to €47,000 for this filly by the farm's own sire Lope De Vega.
The filly is out of the Kitten's Joy two-year-old Flame Of Tara Stakes (G3) winner Liquid Amber and is an own-sister to the two-year-old colt Supercooled, the exciting winner of a 7f conditions race in France since the catalogue was published. He is trained by Andre Fabre and has been retained by owner-breeder Flaxman Stables.
Second dam is the useful Pachattack (Pulpit), a Grade 3 winner and placed three times in Grade 1 races in the US. (11:10)
Lot 254: we get off to a flyer picking up from where we left off yesterday – the very first lot in this morning, a colt by Make Believe, makes €55,000.
The colt was sold by the Mahon family's Mountain View Stud, pinhooked by JC Bloodstock for 22,000gns at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale. He is out of the Charm Spirit mare Lambeth Walk, placed second in the Champion 2yo Trophy and fourth in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes (G2).
She is a grand-daughter of Roo, ancestress of such good horses as the Sussex Stakes (G1) winner Mohaather, the Grade 2 winner Prize Exhibit, the Royal Ascot winner of the Queen Anne Stakes (G1) Accidental Agent and Polly Pott, last year's May Hill Stakes (G2) winner.
The purchaser was Jack Channon Racing, and is the first signed under the banner by the young trainer at the September Sale and he signed as Jack Channon / Duarte / Kilbride. Channon's father Mick always such a strong supporter of the sale when he was training.
"He is a lovely colt, we had to push a little to get him, but I am delighted we did," said Channon. "He is a first foal out of a good two-year-old, and it is a pedigree we know well as it hails back to the Johnson-Houghton's leading family, produced just over the hill from us." (10:13)

The colt is out of the High Chaparral mare High Regards, a half-sister to Magic Hurricane, winner of the Group 1 The Metropolitan at Randwick in Australia.
The pedigree also features Lucky Speed, winner of the Deutsches Derby (G1), the two Group 1 runner-up Bellypha and Ballyeroy and, ight at the base of the page, the Japanese superstar and champion Equinox.
Arizona won the Coventry Stakes (G2) and was a runner-up in the Dewhurst Stakes (G1) and the National Stakes (G1). (18:07)
Lot 191: Bronsan Racing with De Burgh Equine spends €70,000 on the Sottsass filly out of Haze (Oasis Dream) an own-sister to Rimth, winner of the Fred Darling Stakes (G3) and a runner-up in the Cheveley Park Stakes (G1).
The filly hails from the prolific family of Dominica, winner of the King's Stand Stakes (G2) and the Cornwallis Stakes (G3), Ya Malak, winner of the Nunthorpe Stakes (G1), Penitent, a dual Group 2 winner, Supplicant, winner of the Mill Reef Stakes (G2), and the dual Group 3 winner Kiyoshi, who was also third in the Cheveley Park Stakes (G1).
Bred by Rathbran House Stud, the filly was sold by Baroda Stud. (18:00)
Lot 174: Ross Doyle goes to €74,000 for the Earthlight filly out of the Redback mare Gilded, winner of five races, including the Queen Mary Stakes (G2) and placed in the Cherry Hinton Stakes (G2). She was trained by Richard Hannon Snr.
Sold by breeder Ballylinch Stud, this filly is a half-sister to the Listed winner and the Group 3-placed Fort Del Oro. It is the further family of Tumbleweed Ridge, the winner of ten races with a hat-trick of victories coming in the Ballycorus Stakes (G3), and this year's first-season sire sensation Blue Point, a four-time Group 1 winner. (16:46)
Lot 167: a colt by first-crop sire Earthlight is bought by Mark Grant Racing for €60,000, and is likely to have a breeze-up target planned for 2024.
The February-born colt, bred by Mabaki Investments, was sold by Moanmore Stables. He is out of the Listed-placed Freezy (Dalakhani), a half-sister to five black-type winners headed by the Group 1 winner and international runner Jakkalberry (Storming Home) and the 2011 champion Italian three-year-old, Crackerjack. The last-named is by Shamardal, also the sire of half-sister and Listed winner Joyful Hope, and the sire of the colt's sire Earthlight. (16:34)
Lot 141: Anthony Bromley of Highflyer Bloodstock generally buys horses for trainers and owners as racing prospects, but was wearing a slightly different hat when going to €100,000 for this colt by Mehmas.
"He is for an Irish breeze-up client," he reported. "It is punchy [the price], but I love the sire and this colt has a little more scope than some by Mehmas. He is very athletic, I believe this horse is a racehorse, my client does, too. Let's hope he is a weapon!"
The colt, bred by Yeomanstown Lodge Stud, was sold by Rochestown Lodge Stud having been pinhooked by the farm for €40,000 last autumn. He is a half-brother to the French Listed-placed runner Vatican Hill, and to the 97-rated recent winner Roman Dynasty, and the 85-rated Luzum. (15:26)
Lot 119: a sale ring full of the day's main buyers welcomed this filly by Lope De Vega for her time under the lights, and the bidding duly kicked off at €30,000. The price quickly rose through the ranks with the main protagonists being Hubie de Burgh, Matt Houldsworth and Conor Quirke, the last named successful at €190,000.
The filly, bred by Stonethorn Stud Farm Ltd out of the Listed winner and Group 3-placed Drumfad (Acclamation) is a half-sister to Bluedrum (Blue Point). She won at Naas on her career debut on September 14 for trainer Jessica Harrington and was retained by the breeder.
Quirke was buying for RP Racing, a syndicate which has enjoyed a fine season, courtesy of one of the year's stars, the Mick Appleby-trained Big Evs – winner of the Windsor Castle Stakes (L), the Molecomb Stakes (G3) and the all-the-way winner of the Flying Childers Stakes (G2) at Doncaster last week and a Tattersalls October Book 2 graduate. He is also by Darley Stud's leading first-season sire Blue Point and the colt has a date at the Breeders' Cup next time out.
"She was a stand out for me, and ultimately the half-sister got her over the line," reported Quirke. "This filly is lovely and was well-placed here – the breeders are good at their job. Today was not her Cup Final, she is going to keep improving, which I appreciate. She is a lovely filly and hard to fault. We like the sire, too, and it all made sense."
He added: "She has residual value and is a half to a good Blue Point filly and she will be a broodmare in time. She will goes to trainer Mick Appleby. I have bought for RP for the last five years or so – we have danced all the big dances this year with Big Evs and we want to get back to it again next year!"
Quirke sees the new purchase as a mid-season filly as a juvenile, but is dreaming big for her three-year-old campaign and that helped convince him to spend the current session-topping six-figure sum.
"She is a long term prospect. We knew she's cost something in that window, we followed a couple through earlier and they made way more [than we predicted] and she was close to where we saw her. We did not come here necessarily to buy but I am always on the look out. When you see a horse such as her... well I made the call."
Of Big Evs after his impressive success last week Quirke updated: "He bounced out as usual, and I have booked my flights to America! Mick is great fun, the owners are good people and it has been a great journey so long may it continue!"
The horse was consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment, and Bill Dwan said: "She came from Kiltinan Stud, they did a great job. She is a lovely filly and obviously had a well-timed pedigree update. The sire is having a great time too, and it all came together for today. There was a lot of interest and she was vetted ten times. The sale was selected in order to stand out, which she did, and at the time of the sale entry the two-year-old was unnamed."
Dwan added: "There is a huge international presence here, as well as a lot of English and Irish trainers. We have been busy throughout and had plenty of footfall in the barn. Horses will be sold today and tomorrow." (14:56)
Lot <a href="https://secure.tattersalls.ie/cat/sept/2023/114.pdf" target="_blank" title="View Pedigree">114</a>: the first in from a three-strong draft consigned by Weir View Stud makes €70,000, bought by Lillingston Bloodstock.
The Make Believe colt gave the consignor a fine return a foal investment of €13,000 made at the Tattersalls December Sale.
The colt's mare Donau (High Chaparral) two winners from two runners, the latest being this year's two-year-old Billiegee (Waldgeist), successful at Wolverhampton on September 1, the filly going one place better after finishing second on her career debut at Kempton in August.
Donau is a half-sister to the German Group race winners Denaro and Davidoff, and to the Listed winner Duellant.
At last year's September Yearling Sale, Edmond Ryan of Weir View Stud sold the pinhooked Native American (Sioux Nation) for €75,000. The colt went into training with Richard Fahey and has now won twice, including thes €300,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes at the Irish Champions Festival for Wathnan Racing. (14:19)
Lot 83: the first in today from the first crop of the 2,000 Guineas winner Kameko makes €115,000, bought by agent Edgar Byrne working with Norway-based trainer Niels Petersen.
The colt is a half-brother to this year's juvenile Zoulu Chief (Zoustar), who has won three times this summer and was successful in the Sky Bet Nursery at the York Ebor meeting last time out. He is BHA rated 97, and was a Tattersalls October Book 3 purchase by trainer Heather Main at 27,000gns.
"He is a lovely horse, we saw him yesterday and he was one of our top picks, we are looking forward to him," said Petersen. "For Scandinavia you tend to look for a well-balanced horse as our tracks are a little sharper, we don't have any straight courses. We also have both Dirt and Turf tracks and he might be one that could suit either surface. He fits what we are after."
Edgar added: "He has been bought for the JC Organization, a first-time shopper at Tattersalls Ireland. Niels has trained a Derby winner for the syndicate. This horse was our top pick for JC, we have other clients to buy for, but he suited this order. We did have to push to buy him, but you do for the right horse and for the good ones."
Petersen continued: "I have bought a lot here before, but not for some time, but we chatted about coming here to see what we could find. We think this bracket suits our requirements – our prize-money is good and it is easier to win than in Ireland!"
Pre-training plans are open at present as the trainer reported: "We have not discussed that yet, he might not come to us for a little time – Norway in the winter is not always that nice a place!"
The sale was a fine pinhook for the consignor Clenagh Castle Stud – the colt was bought as a foal for just 11,000gns at the Tattersalls December Sale.
Adrian Costello of Clenagh said: "He was a gorgeous foal, and has done well all the way through and this year Zoulu Chief has come out. I loved the idea of Kameko – but it was hard to buy one!" (13:35)
Lot 68: trainer Mark Loughnane goes to €75,000 for the full-brother to the Royal Ascot Albany Stakes (G3) winner Dandalla, also successful in Newmarket's Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (G2) and placed fourth in the Commonwealth Cup (G1).
"He is coming into training with me, we will get him broken in and we will see where we are at, but he is a fine horse and has a great page as a full-brother to Dandalla; the mare has had three winners from three runners," said the successful buyer, announced as purchaser from the rostrum by auctioneer John O'Kelly referencing to Mark's son Billy who has been making such big waves as a jockey and who rode out his apprentice claim last week when recording his 95th winner and just 11 months on from his race riding debut.
Loughnane Snr added of colt bred by Robert Norton and sold by Peter Nolan Bloodstock: "This colt looks an early type. I have purchased and been lucky from this sale before, but this the first yearling I have bought this season. He is for a local syndicate made up of my landlord Steve Mares and a few friends." (12:46)
Lot 34: this colt by this year's first-crop stallion Inns Of Court – the sire of 19 winners whose leading performer Gaenari finished fourth in the Prix d'Arenberg at the end of August backing up two Listed second placings – is sold by the stallion's farm Tally-Ho Stud for €72,000.
The colt is a half-brother to Ipanema Princess (Kessaar), who was third in the Prix Six Perfections (G3) last year and is now a winner and placed in US.

Lot 27: BBA Ireland strikes for this Wootton Bassett filly, consigned by Norelands. The team's agent Michael Donohoe was in charge of bidding and went to €82,000 for the daughter of the winning Dalakhani mare Aspasi, and he said: "We are big fans of the sire. She is a lovely filly and a gorgeous physical.
"She has been really well produced by Norelands, the farm produces good horses, and we think she is good value. She has been bought for a Middle Eastern-based client, who has been a lucky client of mine. She will stay in Ireland to be broken and will go on to be trained in Ireland, England or France. "
He added: "It is great to be at the September Sale and see horses by such top level sires, she stood out a bit, but we are happy with what we have paid for her."
Of the sale, he said: "It is very busy here, there are lots of buyers here and Tattersalls and ITM have worked hard to get buyers here across all levels, there should be a good clearance rate today."
The filly's grand-dam is Insight, winner of the E P Taylor Stakes (G1), the Prix de l'Opera (G2) and third placed in the Prix de Diane (G1). It is the further family of the Group 1 winner Dolphin Street and the Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Saffron Walden. (11:18)
Lot 20: one of just three catalogued this week by Teofilo, this colt sold by Castletown Quarry Stud makes €70,000, bought by de Burgh Equine.
Bred by Plantation Stud, he is the first foal out of the unraced Amazing Grace (Dubawi), a daughter of the dual Group 1 winner Amazing Maria (Mastercraftsman). He was pinhooked by AT Bloodstock at the Tattersalls December Sale for 21,000gns. (11:10)
Lot 12: the first to six figures today is this filly by the young sire Ten Sovereigns, consigned by Glenvale Stud. She was bought by Anthony Bromley of Highflyer Bloodstock for €100,000.
"Ten Sovereigns is doing great with his first crop, this filly is a very good walker and very athletic," he said, standing on the balcony alongside Harry Dunlop. "She has been bought for Andrew Megson, who is perhaps known more for his jumping string. Harry is helping the Megsons, and this filly is going to his brother Ed Dunlop, who has a few for the couple to run on the Flat for some fun."
Striking so early on in the sale to fulfil this order, he said: "It is early in the sale and Andrew was only wanting to buy one, it is funny how it happened."
Bromley added of the filly's family: "Joseph [O'Brien] had the two-year-old last year [Lakota Seven, winner and Listed and Group 3 placed] who was a good two-year-old over a mile and sold well at the end of the year.
"The pedigree goes back to a good Juddmonte bloodline in Monroe, the dam of Xaar. There are few Group 1 performers down at the bottom of the page. It is really exciting, and this filly looks as though she has size and scope to make up into a three-year-old, too."
Of the September Yearling Sale, he added: "It has been a lucky sale for me, I like this sale. I will say that this will be a good strong domestic trade today, it will be a solid trade."
Lakota Seven was sold at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale for 180,000gns, bought by RMG Bloodstock.
The Megsons may just enjoying a "bit of fun" on the Flat, but they have had some decent level success, too, headlined by their Tattersalls October Book 2 purchase Polly Pott, winner of the Group 2 May Hill Stakes. (10:54)
